my favorite Acne-Safe Summer Travel Tips
It’s the time of the year when most of us are out and about, traveling, and enjoying the warmer weather..that said, it can also throw your skin completely off. New climates, different foods, disrupted routines, long travel days, etc.
And that said, you can enjoy your trip without sacrificing your skin. You don’t need to be “perfect,” just intentional. Whether you’re heading to the beach or hopping on a plane, here are my top acne-conscious summer travel tips to help your skin stay calm throughout the ebbs and flows!
1. Stick to Your Non-Negotiables
Travel is not the time to do a full 180 with your routine. If you have a few skincare or supplement habits that really help your skin, keep those consistent..even if everything else shifts a little.
This could be:
Taking your key recommended supplements
Drinking enough water with electrolytes
Staying on top of your skincare basics (cleanser, moisturizer, SPF)
Supporting digestion with a quick walk after meals
A few solid habits go a long way..even if you're not eating “perfectly.”
2. BE MINDFUL OF STRESS.
Yes, sunscreen matters. But don’t forget that stress is a major acne trigger too. Travel can be exciting and stressful (though good stress) - especially with delayed flights, packed schedules, or poor sleep.
Build in time to rest. Journal in the morning, go for a walk, sit in the sun, or leave space in your itinerary to breathe!
3. Don’t Skip Meals (or Protein)
It’s so easy to miss meals when you’re out of your routine, but skipping food can spike cortisol and blood sugar swings, both of which can worsen acne.
Aim to:
Eat within 60–90 minutes of waking
Bring protein-rich snacks for the road (beef sticks, protein bars, roasted chickpeas, etc.)
Balance indulgent meals with blood-sugar-friendly options (like adding fiber or protein)
It’s not about perfection..it’s about keeping your body stable while you enjoy new foods!
4. Keep It Simple with Skincare
Don’t overpack your skincare. Just bring what works. Like a:
Gentle cleanser
Non-comedogenic moisturizer
Mineral-based SPF
Optional: pimple patches, face mist, or a calming serum
5. Support Detox Pathways Naturally
When you’re flying or eating different foods, digestion and detox can slow down. Constipation, fluid retention, and sluggish lymph flow can all show up on your skin.
Try these gentle ways to support your detox while traveling:
Dry brushing before showering
Staying hydrated with minerals
Drinking warm lemon water in the morning
Moving your body daily (walks, stretching, yoga)
6. Traveling Doesn't Have to Equal a Flare-Up
If you do break out..give yourself grace. A couple breakouts from a change in routine won’t undo all your progress. Skin ebbs and flows, especially when you’re living life. Keep focusing on the bigger picture: your gut, your hormones, your stress levels.
You don’t need to cancel your gelato or skip beach days to have healthy skin. You just need to support your body while you travel so it can stay as balanced as possible.
Because most of all, traveling is meant to be enjoyed. Your skin doesn't need you to be perfect..it needs you to be present, hydrated, and supported. Acne doesn’t mean you can’t live your life!!
